A four-piece band based
in the Iowa & Illinois Quad Cities, Jim the Mule blends the gritty Rock and Roll textures of the late 60's and early 70s with touches of Southern Rock, Pop, Alternative Rock, and Country into something best described as "Midwestern Rock and Roll."
Miller High Life is the official beer of Jim the Mule.
JTM Returns To The Stage
The ground is moist, the river is high, and the temperatures are actually temperate. It's the time of year to dust off the cobwebs, warm up the vocal cords, and push the tubes into their wonderful grind. After a painfully long (three months) dry spell, we're taking the stage again for the spring and summer seasons. If you're fond of the art form, make it a priority to support some live music this year - god knows it needs all the support it can get - and come out and shake it with us on a warm summer night or two. We'll see you at the shows!
New Tunes
The sun is setting later - when it's sunny, that is - and we're all itching for some warmer weather, but at least we've got some new material to debut one of these days. We holed up in a farm house in rural Illinois a couple of weeks back and have a handful of new tunes in the works. We're hoping to lay them down officially in one form or another come early summer, but we'll be rolling them out one or two at a time at the shows, so be sure to come out and say "hi!" We haven't seen many of you in a long while, and we know you're out there because we've been stalking you on the social networking sites (yes, we do have a Facebook page - become a fan!). Seriously, though - check out the calendar and make it a point to catch a live show. You'll be glad you did. Until then...
Winter Shows
If you haven't been to a JTM show in a while, and the 4:30pm sunsets are bad for your constitution, you should dust off some of the cold and join us for some great shows this winter. We've got some close regional things going on and will be on the road a little bit as well, so be sure to check the Shows page often, and sign up on our email list if you're not already on it. It's a pretty painless way of keeping up with what's going on. And we promise not to bombard you with emails - we'll just remind you about the shows and anything else we find remotely relevant. New sounds and new material will be the name of the game in the coming months, and we're excited to share these things with all of you lovely people. Join the festivities with JTM this winter!
New Members, New Shows
Well, we've reached the other side of the solstice. The sun is shining and We're finally breaking the hiatus. We also have some news, namely a lineup change, and best of all, gigs! Sean Ryan (The Dawn) is handling guitar duties and Kurt Sullivan (Herd Behavior, The Backwater Bayou Band, Mike Blomme Trio) is drumming. Sure, things are a little bit different now, but the new guys are bringing fresh perspectives and we've been spending a lot of time in the shed, so to speak. We've got some shows on the books and will be playing as much as possible, so check the Shows page often, and visit us here for news and updates, as we're just getting started. We'll see you at the shows!
Don't Mind Us While We Hibernate, But Do Visit
We suppose we ought to admit it. We're finally on hiatus. We're not exactly sure what the dictionary or Wikipedia says about the word, but for us it means we're taking a break. "What do you mean by 'break'?"" you ask? Well, for us it means we're hibernating. Catching up on some sleep. Checking in with ourselves and our families and out of the band as we all know it. We're regrouping and rediscovering what it means to play new music and to play old songs in a new fashion. And we're practicing so that, when we awake from the slumber, there's something new and unexpected. That's the goal. Sure, we'll check in from time to time, so do visit. In the meantime, enjoy "Last Solid Ground", build a fire, drink some red wine and dark beer, eat more than you're supposed to, and enjoy your families. We'll see you somewhere on the other side of the solstice.
